He was predeceased by : his parents, Irby Ray Trotter, Sr. and Ruby Jo Freeman Trotter; his daughter Whitney Nicole Grogan; and his sister Sandra Clayton. He is survived by : his wife Lisa Trotter; his children, Charlena Marie Trotter, Irby Joe Trotter, Jr., Catlin Joe Trotter, Candie Elaine Thompson, Kimberly Ann Yates and Amanda Jean Trotter; and his siblings, Mark Trotter, Wanda Smith and Tamara Kay Trotter. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, June 21st 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Taylor Funeral Home (214 N Main St, Dickson, TN 37055). A reception was held on Saturday, June 22nd 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Shadowens Family Cemetery (2009 Garrett Rd, Charlotte, TN 37036).
