She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam Houston and Sallie Ruth Cooper Carlton; her husband John E. Swart; and her sister Melissa Newkirk. She is survived by: her sister Charlotte Maxwell of Murfreesboro; and her nephew Tom Maxwell (Karen) of Acworth, GA. She is also survived by three great-nephews.
