He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Luther and Mary Williams Hicks of Virginia; and his siblings, Dayton, Leroy Hicks, Anna Mae Ringley, Hattie Alma Seats, Mary Katherine Johnson and Louise Preston.
He is survived by: his wife Velma Carr Hicks; his children, Nikki Deneane Knott (Dave), Wendy Leigh Hicks (Howard Spurgeon) and Benjie Gary Hicks (Barbara); his grandchildren, Depew (Lauren), Masey Hart, Gracie Hicks, Hunter Hicks, Clo and Winters; and his great grandchildren, Rowan, Adeline, Ellis Depew, Jerry Hicks and Oscar Hicks.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
