He was predeceased by: his wife Bertie Branch; his parents, John Branch and Margaret Branch; and his siblings, John Wesley, Arthur Garfield, William Hibbard, Ralph, Charles, Walter, Laverne Conti, Olive Marie Hartman, Helen Jones and Violet Clancy.

He is survived by: his sons, Joseph Ernest Branch, Jr. (Judy), Michael Wesley Branch (Lisa), Allen Gordon (Yvette) and James Warren Branch, Sr. (Marie); his grandchildren, Joseph Ernest Branch III, Erika Suzanne Branch, Mikel Jeremy Branch, Isaac Wesley Branch, Alyssa Ellen Chegwidden, Stephen Luke Branch, Brittani Megan Branch, James Warren Branch, Jr. and Alexandria Creswell; and his sister Rose Popp. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
