He was predeceased by: his parents, James W. Mathis and Cynthia R. Taylor Mathis; and his siblings, James W. Mathis, Jr., Glindon Mathis, Luther H. Mathis and Annie Yarbrough.
He is survived by: his wife Mable Marie Mathis (Hamm); his children, Benjamin Mathis, Deanna Thompson and Dianna Feltner (Jeff); his grandchildren, Mitchell Howell (Emily), Daniel Howell (Chelsea), Ryan Feltner (Kellery), Katherine Earhart (Ryan), Hannah Feltner and Roxanne Perkins (Josh); and his siblings, Roland Mathis and Ollie Bryant. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
