He is survived by: his wife Doris Marie Woodard Smith; his children, James Smith (Sherry), Tom Smith (Sherry), Cathy Young (Steve), David Sherrell, Christopher Sherrell (Annie), Tonia Sherrell, Joey Sherrell (Barbara) and Nathaniel Piper; and his siblings, Dolphus Smith (Jeannie), Barney Smith (Bettye), Mary Jo Gray and Aleda Moore (Verble). He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
