Johnny Gorman Obituary

It is with great honor that the family of Johnny Gorman announces his entrance into heaven on September 19, 2018 at the age of 46. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on September 23, 2018 at First Baptist Benton in Benton, TN. The church doors will open at 2:30 p.m. Johnny will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Michelle, and his children, Madeleine, Jace, Levi and Olivia Gorman.

He will forever be remembered by his parents, Richard and Jacquelyn Brookfield and John and Iris Gorman; his sister, Rachel Langelotti, and brother-in-law, Peter Langelotti. Johnny was predeceased by his sister Joy Gorman. Johnny was a passionate follower of Christ and declared God's glory to everyone he came into contact with.

He frequently cited his calling in life using James 1:27. "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." He was a living example of a redeemed man and now has the honor of being in the presence of his Savior.

Johnny was a multi-faceted individual with so many pursued dreams and causes. Johnny's visions never went to rest. He was a man of many God given talents, and when God called Johnny to do something He equipped him for the task. Johnny was a gifted musician who wrote moving songs, though he had no formal training. Johnny was a craftsman, not trained in construction but rather using his mind to guide his hands to construct beautiful workmanship.

He was a talented speaker who could talk about almost any subject matter off the cuff, his favorite topic being explaining Christ to the unchurched. Johnny was an involved father pursuing his children's activities as if they were his own pursuits. He left a legacy worthy of accolades but also had an attractive meekness about him, not allowing the world to influence him away from the tasks God placed on his heart.

One of Johnny's visions led him to open the family restaurant Ocoee Dam Deli & Diner in 2005 in which his family is still active. He loved all things outdoors and enjoyed telling tales and enthusiastically listening to folks share their stories. The loss of Johnny Gorman will be felt by many, but the impact he had while on this earth will be forever etched on our hearts.

Memorial gifts made in memory of Johnny Gorman can be made to First Baptist Church Benton, P. O. Box 326, Benton, TN 37307.
