He is survived by: his wife Renee Maples; his sons, Adam Maples, Daniel Maples (Erin Campbell) and Jim Bob Maples; his grandchildren, Makayla Maples and Ethan Brownfield; his siblings, Gary Maples (Rowena), Darlene Kirby (George McGahee), Cathy Frye (Jimmy), Frankie Standridge (Gene), Vicki McGill, Cindy Beal (C. W.), Lisa Maples, Neil Maples (Jil), Maggie Taylor (Steve) and Jody Maples; his aunt Linda Hatcher; and his father-in-law Bobby Burchfiel (Jean).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
