He was predeceased by: his parents, James Philpot and Pearlie Jones Philpot; his wife Ann Marie Mooneyham Philpot; his siblings, Alfred Philpot, Louise Armstrong and Lillie Mae Deal; and his grandson Bradley Eugene Philpot.
He is survived by: his sons, David Philpot of Belfast, TN and Brent Philpot; and his sister Myra McBee of Wartrace, TN. He is also survived by three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
