He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Thaxter and Lillie Pearl Webster Stewart; and his sister Barbara Sipes. He is survived by: his wife Linda Kay Bass; his children, Dana Stewart McDade (Kevin) of Jackson and Todd Stewart of Smithville, TN; his granddaughter Henley McDade of Jackson; and his siblings, Jeanette Gladish of Jackson, Judy Wiggins of Bolivar, Rita Treadway of Henderson, Connie Hannis (Jimmy) of Middleton, Bonnie Sisco (Danny) of Bolivar, Bobby Stewart (Ruthie) of Middleton and Kenneth Stewart of Bolivar. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
