He was predeceased by: his siblings, Estil Peters, Elbert Peters, Bessie Blankenship, Margie May and Martha Burks; and his brothers-in-law, Jack Blankenship, Carson May, Leonard Burks, Arnold Thomas and Earl Thornsbury.
He is survived by: his wife Gladys Kennedy Peters; his children, Jenny Ratliff Dixon of Tennessee and Junior Ratliff of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Kassandra Ratliff of West Virginia, Nathan Ratliff of North Carolina, Annie Nicley of Tennessee and Kolby Dixon; his great grandchild Sophia Goins; his sisters, Rebecca Thomas and Annalee Thornsbury; his sister-in-law Helen Peters; and his close friends, Mark Ferrell and Mike Collins. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
