He was predeceased by: his parents, Verdie Bill and Lola Caroline Massa Maxwell; his wife Patricia Gale Rice Maxwell; his daughter Kim Maxwell Whitehair; his granddaughter Atlanta Redmon; and his siblings, Elizabeth Maxwell, Donnell, Douglas, Phillip and Frank Maxwell.

He is survived by: his children, Ginger Flatt (Chad) of Livingston, Niki Grogan (Blake) of Cookeville, Charlotte Anderson (John) of Anderson and Craig Carr (Tammy) of Lafayette; his son-in-law Doug Whitehair of Baxter; his brother Kenneth "Buck" Maxwell of Baxter; his grandchildren, Steven Hughes, Casey Hughes, Jason Arms, Shawn Smith, Wilmoth, Ruby Yancey, Lee Flatt, Dakota Flatt, Cheyanne Flatt, Courtney Maxwell, Hutson Grogan, Jessica Carr, Kaitlyn Carr, Christopher Crook and Ryan Crook; and his niece Crystal Walker.
