He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther "Luke" Helms and Nancy Edmonds Helms; his sister Phyllis Washer; his stepson Carlon Kirby; and his grandson Michael Martinez.
He is survived by: his wife Veronica Davis Helms; his sister Debbie Gravley; his stepchildren, Eddie Davis (Beth), Carl Davis (Lita), Cynthia Phillips (Trinity) and Christpher Burchett; and his grandchildren, Angelique, Damian, Ariel, Paige, Andrea, Lee, Josh, Theresa, Daniel, Wyatt, Isaac, Kaiden and Carmine. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
