He was predeceased by: his parents, Burnest Love Burgess and Mary Betty Sullins Burgess; his daughter Ivy Jean Burgess; and his siblings, Mary Frances Green, Patty Burgess, Denton and James Burgess.

He is survived by: his daughter Heather Love Burgess of Lewiston; his siblings, Lois Hargis of Sparta, Susan West of Interlachen, Lisa Anderson of Silver Point, Penny Burgess of Baxter, Gene Bellar of Gainesboro, James Bellar of Peru, Russell Bellar of Peru, Dwight Burgess of Peru, Doyle Burgess of Peru, Bill Johnson of Lebanon and JD Burgess of Baxter; his grandsons, Noah and Andrew Barker; and his pet Speckles. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
