He was predeceased by: his wife Sarah; his son Roy L. Carter, Jr. (Skip); his parents, Roy Carter and Lena Carter; and his sisters, Alma Taylor and Mary Nell Cotton.
He is survived by: his siblings, Faye Dodd and James Robert Carter; his daughter Marcia Blackard; his granddaughters, Jane Gravier, Stephanie Potter and Christi Carter; and his great grandchildren, Reagan, Riley Gravier, Finn and Sully Potter.
