He is survived by: his children, Joseph Scalzo, Jr. (Kasey) and Andrea Hawkins (Andy); his grandchildren, Stephanie Sims, Maggie Croom and Haley Scalzo; his great grandchild Cooper Croom; and his brother Vinzenzo Scalzo (Anne).

Memorials may be made to the West Memphis Animal Shelter or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
