He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Moultrie Harris and Mary Rosalie Kaiser Harris; his son Jason Smith; and his brother Kenneth Jones. He is survived by: his wife Donna; his children, Herbert "Craig" Harris Jr. Shannon Smith (Suzanne), Teresa Marie Brown (Larry), Angie Denman (Chip) and Chasidy Tinkle (Alex); his grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Raegan, Trey, Seth, Luke, Caitlynn, Nathan and Bradlee; his great grandchildren, Nora, Gavin, Chloe, Elijah and Maci; and his siblings, Velda Marie Eberwein, Rosemary Madden, Eunice Kuhnke, Sheila Jones, Thomas Harris (Brenda), Michael Harris (Arlene) and David Jones (Susie).

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to the following organizations.
