He is survived by: his wife Nancy Kyle Thetford; his children, Joy Thetford Gilmore (Steve) and Donald Richard Thetford, Jr. (Allison); his grandchildren, Megan Mims (Wright), Krista Smith (Matt), Bryce Gilmore, Ashlynn McDonald (Chase), John Robert Gilmore, Tyke Thetford, Wilson Thetford, Bryner Gilmore and Grayson Gilmore; and his great grandchild Ace Mims.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Lakeland.
