She was predeceased by: her father Charlie Taylor (Royal Mathews); and her daughter Latassia. She is survived by: her mother Everlena "Peggy" Taylor; her son Cedric Mathews (Sarah); and her grandchildren, Tye Mathews, Johnathan Austin, Elizabeth Austin, Deterrance McCray and Anastasia Krizan (Robert).
Jean also took care of her mother until her health began to fail due to Alzheimer's. At that time, CJ and Peggy were moved into Cedric and Sarah's home where they spent everyday together and enjoyed each other's company.
