He was predeceased by: his wife Sara; and his siblings, Armando, Mauricio, Mario, Arturo and Linda.

He is survived by: his daughters, Sara Covarrubias (Alex), Gloria Duke and Norma Danielson (David); his grandchildren, Alexander, Christopher Covarrubias, David Danielson, Jennifer Garcia, Miguel and Oscar Azcunaga; and his great grandchildren, Reid Alexander Covarrubias, Sophia Grace Covarrubias, Shane Alan Danielson, Luke Theodore Danielson, Alejandro, Andrea, Adriana, Ana and Miguel Alexander Azcunaga Jr..
