He was predeceased by: his wife Lura Lee Smith; his son Larry; his daughter-in-law Cheryl Leatherwood; his parents, Claude Leatherwood and Lucille Leatherwood; his parents-in-law, Cruiser and Myrtle Smith; and his siblings-in-law, Houston Smith and Sharon Duggan.
He is survived by: his daughter Teresa Kirkland (Randy) of Athens; his grandchildren, Leah Witenbarger (David) of Vass and Levi Leatherwood (Cindy) of Athens; his great grandchildren, Angel Leatherwood, Iris and Selah Witenbarger; his sister Peggy Kelley (Jimmy); and his sisters-in-law, Joella Curtis, Nadine Wilson and Vickie Standridge. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
