He was predeceased by: his parents, James Thomas and Mary Neal Pointer; and his sister Nancy Bradham. He is survived by: his wife Sarah Waters Pointer; his daughter Suzan of Athens; his son-in-law Michael Stewart of Athens; his son Robert, Jr.; his daughter-in-law Patricia Pointer of Knoxville; and his grandchildren, Callie Ann Stewart, Stephen Michael Stewart, Spencer James Sullivan, Jacob Kyle Pointer and Noah Daniel Pointer.
