He was predeceased by: his father Roy "Ross" (Geneva Roberts Carden); his sisters, Eva Sue Carden and Gladys DeLores Spence; his nephew Travis Brandon Moore; and his brothers-in-law, Marvin Burdette and Lewis Layman.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Bohannon Carden of Athens; his daughter Stephanie Carden Devine; his son-in-law John Devine of Niota; his sisters, Margaret Burdette of Rock Hill, SC, Glenora Louise Carden of Harrison, TN, Katherine Layman of Athens, TN, Wilma Hall (Kenneth) of Chattanooga, TN, Sandra Jackson (Charles) of Athens, TN, Sarah Blair (Jim) of Birchwood, TN, Barbara Drumright (Joe) of Athens, TN and Wanda Moore (Wayne) of Glasgow, KY; and his brother-in-law Charles Jackson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many wonderful, loving friends, including his special friend.
