Nellie Kyker-Sliger Obituary
We are sad to announce that on February 17, 2025 we had to say goodbye to Nellie Kyker-Sliger of Athens, Tennessee. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, W. C. "Bill" Hutsell, Sr. and Willie Mae Snyder Hutsell; her former husband J. B. Kyker; her husband Howard Sliger; her grandson Jim Rose; and her siblings, W. C. Hutsell, Bob Hutsell, Max Hutsell and Mary Ruth Hutsell.
She is survived by: her son Ed; her daughter-in-law Tomi Kyker of Niota; her daughter Janice; her son-in-law Dr. Carroll Rose of Tazewell, TN; her siblings, Charles D. Hutsell (Buddy) of Nashville and Carolyn Pemberton of Nashville, TN.; her grandchildren, Deidra Rose Rudder, Jacob, Natasha Kyker and Miranda Kyker; her great grandchildren, Henry Rudder, Harrison Rudder and Kaleb Kyker; and also Wayne McKeehan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home (521 N Jackson St, Athens, TN 37371). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the McMinn Memory Gardens (1727-1739 Co Rd 560, Athens, TN 37303). She was a volunteer at the McMinn Senior Citizen Center, the RSVP Program, The McMinn County Heritage Museum and a life-time member of the Friends of the Library.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to; The Pilot Club of Athens, The Friends of the Library and McMinn County Living Heritage Museum.
