With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Melissa Rhodes of Athens, Tennessee, who passed away on January 14, 2021 at the age of 44. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her uncle Joe Mize; and her grandparents, Bob, Gladys Mize, Raymond and Mary Rhodes of Knoxville, Tennessee..

She is survived by: her brother Bobby Rhodes of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.; her uncle Chuck; her aunts, Judy Rhodes of Morehead City and Maura Mize; her cousins, Matt, Leslie Mize of Lake Charles, Meghan, Justin Sylvester of Austin and Fonda Rhodes of Morehead City; her close friends, Cayce Crofts, Jane Flowers, CindyMistal, Deanna Hewitt, Diana Fields and Julie Carmen; and her pet Finn.

The family requests that everyone wear a mask for your protection and ours.

“One of my best friends, so near and dear to my heart. I will miss her so very much. My children loved her so much and always wanted to see "Aunt Melissa". My husband loved her too. She was always there when I needed to talk, always with a kind word, a smile or just an ever faithful ear.
