He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard T. Harper and Eula Lee Green Harper; his wife Linda Flynn Harper; and his siblings, Jewell Dean Harper and Terry Lee Harper.
He is survived by: his daughter Belinda; his son-in-law Dennis Howard of Athens; his sons, Max Alan (Lindsey Harper), Randall (Robbie Haper) and Mark (Patrella Harper); his siblings, Bobbie Joyce Harper, Fay Harper, Glynnell Harper, Lewis R. Harper and James Taft Harper; and his close friend Clara Mae Robinson. He is also survived by nine granddaughters, six grandsons, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
