He was predeceased by: his parents, Gus McElhaney and Hattie Golden McElhaney; his former wife Carolyn Mason McElhaney; his daughter Tina McElhaney Russell; and his siblings, Alma McElhaney Kile, Dorothy Mae McElhaney Henry, John Henry McElhaney and Joseph McElhaney.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Smith McElhaney; his children, April Taylor (Delbert), Tony McElhaney, Joe McElhaney (KariAn), Lorrie Jones (Randy), Cindy Frantz (Tim), Barbara Wilhoit (Tim), Daird Hobbs (Lori), Merrilee Changet (Todd) and Jon Hobbs; his grandchildren, Emily McElhaney, Jordan Taylor (Elizabeth), Krista Hufferd (Caleb), Cameron Renshaw (Simeon), Joseph Taylor (Morgan), Jayci Taylor, Sandy Fuller (Daniel), Sindy McElhaney, Shane McElhaney (Sidny), Andrew, Daniel Michael, Mitchell, Rachel Jones, Alex, Alyssa Frantz, Wes, Katie, Will Wilhoit, Marlee, Harris Hobbs, Daird, Matthew, Benjamin Changet and Sofie Hobbs; his great grandchildren, Knox, Opal, Taylor, Carson and Riley; and his siblings, Elizabeth "Betsy" Custer and Arthur McElhaney (Eileen).
