He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Gibson Murphy of Athens, TN; his children, Lori Skaggs, Elizabeth Conrad, Kristina Murphy Whightsel of Palmetto and Michael M. Murphy of Athens, TN; and his sister Barbara Pierce of Mayakka. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.
