He was predeceased by: his parents, Fay Stapp and Joseph A. Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Jaynell Settlemire Nelson of Englewood; his daughters, Donna Creasman of Riceville and Sherri Kennedy (James) of Athens; his granddaughter Reily Kennedy of Lenoir City; and his brother Rodney Nelson (Carolyn) of Robbinsville, NC..
