He was predeceased by: his parents, James Arthur Buchanan Sr. and Lorraine Baker Smith. He is survived by: his wife Annie M. Bates Buchanan of Athens, TN.; his children, Troy Buchanan (Fatishia) of Nashville, Kimberly Andrus of Athens, TN. and Santa Boyland (Drew) of Cleveland, TN; his siblings, George Buchanan of Niota, TN., Luther Buchanan of Madisonville, TN., Cecil Goodner of Cleveland, TN., Arlene Buchanan of Sweetwater, TN., Sue Buchanan of Athens, TN., Sharon Smith, Carolyn Smith of Louisville and Jean McCants of Maryland; and his brother-in-law DeWitt Bates of Virginia.
