He was predeceased by: his parents, James "Jay" Barnes and Willie Nell Clark Barnes; and his brother James "Butch" Barnes. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Queen Barnes of Athens; his son Rusty Barnes (Della) of Niota; his sisters, Dean Watts of West Point and Diane Harris of Monroe; and his grandchildren, Parker Barnes and Cali Rayburn.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home (521 N Jackson St, Athens, TN 37303). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Sewee Cemetery (242 Co Rd 223, Niota, TN 37826).
