He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Ball Thompson; and his parents, Rev. Carl H. Thompson and Ruth Thompson. He is survived by: his close friends, Charles and Bea Gardner; his children, Carl E. Thompson, Jr. (Jeanie), Vicki Ritchey (Larry) and Sandy Murdock (Mark); his grandchildren, Nikki Murdock, Claire Hammontree (Deriek), Ryan Murdock, Brett Ritchey (Becca), Casey Cooper (Elisha), Daniel Ritchey (Renee) and Courtney Ward (David); his great grandchildren, Clarabeth, Jonathan, Gideon, Zoe Ward, Eleni Hammontree, Mac, Cora, Ellie and Sue Helen Ritchey; his sisters, Shirley Amburn and Bobbie Amburn; and his siblings-in-law, Rex T. Ball and Charlotte Ball. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
