He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester A. Carroll and Alice Casteel Carroll; and his sister Janice Webb. He is survived by: his wife Ann Fox Carroll of Athens; his daughter Stephanie; his son-in-law Scott Pinkston of Knoxville; his son Carey; his daughter-in-law Stephanie Carroll of Knoxville; and his grandsons, Trey Carroll, Spencer Carroll and Bryce Pinkston.
