He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Akins and Nellie Pickens Akins; his wife Una Fay Akins; his brother James Arnold; and his sister-in-law Ann Akins of South Carolina.
He is survived by: his children, Terrance Lee of Riceville and Tina; his son-in-law Michael Jenkins of Riceville; his grandsons, Brandon Durant Tullock (Laura) and Stephen Alexander Tullock (Bobbie); his great grandchildren, Júlia, Elitsa and Martí; his siblings, Wanda Davis of Athens and Steve; and his sister-in-law Sandy Akins of Athens. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tennessee Wesleyan University or Wesleyanna UMC care of Judy Bookout.
