She was predeceased by: her father John H. Sr. Pursley; her husband Oscar Thomas Newman; her siblings, Mildred Newman, Carolyn Parker, Christine Newman, Willard Pursley, John Henry Pursley, Jr. and Simon Pursley; and her son-in-law Terry Ruffin.
She is survived by: her daughters, Pat Ruffin and Reba Ruffin (Ricky); her siblings, Eugene Pursley (Annie Claire), Willie Pursley (Brenda), Shirley Holt and Annie Hornburger; her grandchildren, Christopher Ruffin, Amanda Ruffin, Justin Ruffin (Ashley) and Austin Ruffin (Ashley); and her great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ruffin, Christen Ruffin, Brooklyn Patterson, Ryan Ruffin and Wyatt Ruffin.
