He is survived by: his wife Peggy Lee Popplewell Smithson; his son R. Douglas Smithson (Beth); his grandchildren, Taylor, Jack, Brendan and Nicholas; his stepdaughter Jennifer Garcia (Manuel); his stepgrandson Landon; his stepdaughter Carrie Garcia; his stepgrandchildren, Erick, Gabrielle and Alex; and his brother Fred Smithson. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
