He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy William Smith and Sara Jane Gatlin Smith; and his sisters, Marie and Parimore. He is survived by: his sons, Mike Smith (Cindy) of Matthews, N. C. and Tim Smith (Turalee) of Prescott, AZ; his close friend Laura Roofener of Arlington, TN; and his brothers, Paul Smith of Wyoming, Joe Smith of San Antonio, TX and Terry Smith of Laurel, MS. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
