He was predeceased by: his brother Alfred Ray McCanless; and his siblings-in-law, James Dudley McCormick and Dorothy Jean McCanless. He is survived by: his sons, Samuel Allen McCanless (Elizabeth) and Steven Brent McCanless (Brenda); his grandchildren, Cameron McCanless (Christina), Brandon Mabry (Heather), Brittany Floyd (Ryan), Ryan McCanless (Callie Parks), Karsyn McCanless (Adam Kilgore) and Brady McCanless; his great grandchildren, Adalee McCanless, Tyler, Ava Floyd, Shelby Mabry and Charlie McCanless; his nieces, Pam McCanless and Patty Williams (Terry); his siblings-in-law, Betsy Davis (Richard) and Thomas "Sonny" (Gayle); and his caregivers, Melinda Hodge, Donna Nolan, Hilda Pickard, Dr. Kropf, Dr. Griban Naddy, Dr. Stephen Simmons and J. C. Williams.
