She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Louise Shuford Scruggs and Rev. Harley Spurgeon Scruggs; her son Michael G. Fortenberry; and her sisters, Nadine Bagwell (Charles) and Doris Carrigan.
She is survived by: her husband Harry G. Fortenberry of Ardmore, TN; her daughters, Marlo D. Cuchens (Kaymon) of Crestview, FL and Holly R. Nuss (Scott) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Mikayla Nuss, Casey Simms and Aleq Nuss; and her sisters, Gaynell Lail (Gene) of Lake Wylie, SC, Creola Lail (Sherman) of Shelby, NC, Pat Houser (Ervin) of Carolina Shores, NC and Tinky Scarborough (Jim) of Grover, NC.
