He was predeceased by: his wife Francis Presley Bates; his parents, Bill Bates and Annie Mae Bates; and his brother Ronnie Bates. He is survived by: his sons, Grady Bates and Rickey Bates; his brother Forrest Bates (Wilma) of Cohutta, GA; and his sister-in-law Sandra Bates of Cleveland, TN. He is also survived by several nieces & nephews.
