He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Harvey Nelson and Margaret Jennings Nelson; his grandson Alexander Nelson; his siblings, Peggy Wright, Kay Buchannon, Don, Danny and Jim Nelson; his wife Sharon Hurst Nelson; and his daughters, Sherri Nelson and Shelia (Michel). He was also cherished by 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
