She is survived by: her children, Mai (Kareem), Wilma Barnett and Charles Sammy Gist (Paula); her grandchildren, Samantha Gist Powe (Derrick), Dee Gist, Porsha Peak, David Gist, Jr., Shannon Gist, John Cartwright (Crystal), Ricardo "Ricky" Cartwright (Amanda), Frank Peak and Charles Gist, Jr.; her sisters, Christina Hayes and Juanita Paige; and her close friends, Melinda Wilson, Tom Savage and Robbie Felton. She is also survived by other relatives, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
