He was predeceased by: his parents, Merrill Carter and Dolly Sugg Carter; and his sister Margaret Zieman. He is survived by: his sister Jane Kern; his daughters, Melinda L. Carter, MD, Sharon R. Carter and Kirsten E. Carter; his granddaughters, Ada and Freya Falls; his great grandchild Liam Falls; his stepchildren, Noah, Lamar Jones and Gretta Jones Carr; his pet Evie; and his wife Camille. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
