Joyce Phillips Denton Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joyce Phillips Denton of Alcoa, Tennessee, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 15, 2025 at the age of 98. She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter G. Philips and Addie Mae Shults Phillips; her grandmother Rebecca Shults Jenkins; her husband Hugh W. Denton; her fiancé William D. "Bill" Hilbert; and her siblings, Paul Phillips, Wayne "Buster" Phillips, John "Toot" Phillips, Phillip "Doc" Phillips, Walter "Sambo" Phillips, Carrie McMillon, Eula Freeman and Dorothy "Shug" Milen.
She is survived by: her granddaughter Lindsay Mae; her daughters, Phyllis Denton and Janice White (Steve); her granddaughter Lindsay Mae White Mendoza (John); and her brother Clarence "Pert" Phillips. She is also survived by 46 nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 22nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Smith Trinity Chapel (1402 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN 37803). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 22nd 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Sherwood Memorial Gardens (3176 Airport Hwy, Alcoa, TN 37701).
