She was predeceased by: her husband Tommy Gene McCray; her parents, Arvesta Dean and Virgina Roberta George Dean; and her brothers, David, Curtis, Donovon and Phillip Dean.
She is survived by: her sister Jean McGhee; her siblings-in-law, Mary Helen, Erma Dean and Vernice Washington; her grandson DeMario Knuckles; her daughters, Shelia Knuckles IV (William) and Traci Thomas Jr. (Gregory); her grandchildren, Kiara, Darius (Zabrenna), Kennedy, Sophia, Will V, Benjamin and Lia; her great grandchildren, Za'Riiyah, I, Zaiah, Mekhi, Iris, Knovah and Massai; her children, Christina and Nathaniel Stephenson; her siblings, Griffin, Dennis, Kenneth Dean (Audrey), Anita Washington, Joan Scudder, Jennifer and Inger; her sister-in-law Evelyn; her niece Freda Dean; and her great-nieces, Qiana Dean and Natiya Curtis. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, March 30th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Cherry Street Church of God (729 S Cherry St, Knoxville, TN 37914). A burial was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Sherwood Memorial Gardens (3176 Airport Hwy, Alcoa, TN 37701).
