He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Goddard Shanks; his parents, Robert Shanks and Julia Shanks; and his son-in-law William Oakley McClure. He is survived by: his daughter Rhonda Shanks-McClure; his pet Sadie; his close friend Bonnie Johnson; his caregiver Leslie Zaragoza; and also, Elijah and Freya.
