He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Burks and Edna Garrison Burks. He is survived by: his wife Jimmie Burks (Erwin) of Adamsville, TN; his son Jamie Burks (Melinda) of Columbia, TN; his grandchildren, Jennie Lamon (David) of Knoxville, TN, Grant Burks of Austin, TX, Madalyn Leatherman (Andrew) of Harlem, GA, Mallory Joyce (Steven) of Hendersonville, TN and Miller Riggins of Columbia, TN; his great grandchildren, Ryleigh Lamon, Reid Lamon, Julian Joyce, Kendall Leatherman and Fallon Leatherman; his brother Johnny Burks (Susan) of Adamsville, TN; and his close friend Lori Lombardi of Adamsville, TN. He is also survived by many extended family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Adamsville First Baptist Church building fund.
