He was predeceased by: his grandson Jake Derting. He is survived by: his wife Rachel Nolen; his daughter Karen Derting (Glenn) of Bardstown, KY; and his grandchildren, Zach Derting of Paducah, KY and Rachel Derting of Lexington, KY..

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Red River Baptist Church.
