It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Stanley E. Thompson of Yankton, South Dakota, who passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Thompson and Phynus Thompson (Stockholm); his grandson Benjamin; his sister Carol Thynne; and his in-laws, Lloyd and Mary Shrader.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Thompson of Yankton; his children, Todd Thompson (Traci) of Pierre, Sheila Juhnke (Tom) of Kaneohe, Hawaii and Shawn Thompson (Julie) of Wayne, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Jordan Thompson, Chris Juhnke (Emma Neuner), Kennady Thompson and Shawn Patrick Thompson; his stepgrandchildren, Jacob Anderson, Devin Anderson and Samantha Gubbels; his stepgreat-grandson Abram Doll; his sister Connie Enneper; and his siblings-in-law, Janet and Larry Silhacek. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home (2901 Douglas Ave, Yankton, SD 57078). A prayer was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. John's Lutheran Church (1009 Jackson St, Yankton, SD 57078).
