He was predeceased by: his parents, Olaf Ekeren and Lucille Warden Ekeren; his wives, JoEtta Hauck and Kathleen Kunde Slowey; his siblings, Gene, Robert, Dennis, Milford Ekeren, Bonnie Lichliter and Sharon Ekeren; his sisters-in-law, Rose Ekeren, Janice Ekeren and Janet Ekeren; his daughter-in-law Shannon Ekeren-Moening; his brother-in-law Murry Lichliter; and his great grandchild Anna Julius.
He is survived by: his son Glendon Ekeren (Betty) of Volin; his grandchildren, Maria Julius (Chad) of Brookings, SD, Jesse Ekeren (Megan) of Sioux Falls, Ben Ekeren (Kristen) of Estes Park, CO and Charlotte Stier (Brady) of Duluth, MN; his son George Ekeren of Yankton; his grandchildren, Hanley Ekeren-Moening of Fort Collins, CO and Olivia Ekeren-Moening of Windsor, CO; his son Dean Ekeren (Kristine); his grandchildren, Sebastian of Littleton, CO and Trynn of Littleton, CO; his stepsons, Steve Slowey (YaVonne) of Yankton, Gregory Slowey (Linda) of Yankton, Pat Slowey of Yankton and Tim Slowey (Dawn) of Hartford, SD; his siblings, Judy Hackett (Robert) of Yankton, Darrel (June) of Mission Hill, SD, Marvin Ekeren (Marylin) of Yankton and James (Donna) of Titusville, FL; his close friend Bonnie Johnson (BJ); his siblings-in-law, Floyd Hauck of Utica and Darlene Kunde of Yankton; and also Ean Johnson of Yankton. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
